How we do it
The method is matched to the surface. Textured concrete, travertine, pavers and coated decks all behave differently, and the wrong pressure on a coated deck strips it.
Furniture is cleaned of pollen, dust and grime. Cushions and upholstery have to come off beforehand, so cleaning solutions do not stain them. Where water would pool on the deck after cleaning, we divert and pump it so no large puddles are left.
If a coating is already peeling or worn before we start, we point it out, so it is not mistaken for cleaning damage.

Before the pool opens for the season, once pollen season is over, so the deck starts the summer clean. During the season we work outside pool hours, early, late or on weekends, so the amenity is open and dry for residents and guests. Why is our pool deck slippery?
Usually algae and mildew. They grow in the texture of concrete, pavers and coping, and around a pool the surface is wet most of the time, which makes that growth slippery underfoot. Cleaning removes the growth that causes it. Shaded areas and spots where water collects grow back fastest, so they are worth watching between cleanings.
Does sealing pool deck pavers stop moss and mildew?
No. Sealing pavers will not prevent mildew or moss. It limits the amount of moisture held in the pavers and joints, which slows the growth down. Paver sealing means applying polymeric sand to the joints and then a sealer, after the deck has been cleaned. It helps, but it does not replace regular cleaning.
Can you pressure wash a coated pool deck?
Not with high pressure. Coated decks are cleaned at low pressure with a solution suited to the coating, because the wrong pressure strips it. Textured concrete, travertine and pavers each get their own approach too. If a coating is already peeling or worn before we start, we point it out so it is not mistaken for cleaning damage.

The furniture frames can be cleaned of pollen, dust and grime as part of the job if they are in the scope. Let us know whether the furniture should be moved off the deck or cleaned in place.
